Have an Attitude of Gratitude

Life is busy, crazy and unpredictable. It doesn't matter how many lists we create and how much planning we arrange we can't be in control 24/7. For people (like me) who like to organise, perfect and be in control, when things don't go as planned it can take us into a negative spiral! This past year I have been putting in place strategies to help control and reduce my negative thinking.
"Negative thoughts are the single worst health habit." Pete Egoscue
One way I have been doing this is by using positive self talk, flipping my negative words or thoughts to positive ones. For example instead of saying "I can't do this!" flipping it to "I can't do this, yet!". Instead of thinking of mistakes as 'failures', thinking of mistakes as something to learn from. This positive self talk has been important in helping regulate my thoughts.
"Talk to yourself like you would to someone you love." Karolina Kurkova
Another strategy I have recently implemented is 'Thankful Thursday'. On Thursday I write a list of everything I am thankful for about my husband that week. I started doing this as I found that I wasn't verbally telling my husband everything I was grateful for and one of his love languages is 'words of affirmations'. I've created some templates to help create a 'Thankful Thursday' list (see below).
"Gratitude turns what we have into enough." Melody Beattie
I really love the above quote as I believe it is so true! As we start to focus on the little things we have in life, it helps us to become aware of all that we have! There is so much to thankful for in our lives. I found that filling my mind with positive quotes, affirmations and bible verses has created a 'positive bubble'.
As we focus on the positive, we become more positive and can spread positivity to others!
